 Celebration of the 4th International Day of Yoga

The '4th International Day of Yoga' has been celebrated in Tehran on June 21, 2018 at Kendriya Vidyalaya [Indian Embassy School] by the Embassy of India in collaboration with the local Yoga organisations. Yoga experts from eminent Yoga schools in Iran like Danesh-e-Yoga Institute, Kanoon-e-Yoga Foundation, Parsian Fitness Club, Tabiaat Group, Asra Group, Zahra & Arqavan and Iram Zamin Yoga Momtazi Center; and members of Indian diaspora, students and teachers of Kendryia Vidyalaya Tehran, students of Yoga and Hindi classes of the Swami Vivekananda Indian Cultural Centre (SVCC), Tehran, members of the Indian Mission and many other Iranian nationals actively participated in the event. In all more than 450 Yoga enthusiasts of all ages attended the celebrations.

In the beginning video clip of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s message on the 4th International Day of Yoga was played on the screen. Ambassador of India, Mr. Saurabh Kumar gave a brief overview of the Yoga and its importance in life of the human beings. Mr. Masoud Mahdavipour and Mr. Abdolhamid Movahedi, the senior most Yoga experts spoke about Yoga. Demonstration of Yoga Protocol/Asanas by students of KV Tehran/ yoga classes of Yoga teacher Mr. Yogesh Kumar of the SVCC; meditation music and yoga performances by Raahbarian and his Group; Yoga performance with Hang Drum by Zahra and Arqavan; Surya Namaskar presentation by Asra and her group were the highlights of the programme. Yoga Teacher of the SVCC also got yoga performed by the all present in the celebration of the 4th IDY. Special issue of a Yoga magazine, ‘Danesh-e Yoga’ on the occasion by Mr Movahedi and a book on Yoga by Mr Masoud Mahdavipor, titled, ‘Void’ were also released during the event.

Senior yoga experts Masoud Mahdavipour, President of Kanoon-e-Yoga, Mr. Abdolhamid Movahedi, President of Danesh-e-Yoga, Mr. Ali Rahbarian, President, Tabiaat Group and Mr Mohammed Momtaji were honoured by the Ambassador in the function for their contributions in the yoga field, by presenting certificates of honour and bouquets to them. Raahbarian Group also presented yoga performances through their cultural performance. The Group presented a unique fusion of Yoga with Sama dance and Daf performance. The programme ended with the rising of Yoga Flag through music and dance by Raahbarian group with portraits of famous yogis from India up in hands.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for all Yoga enthusiasts and the amateurs alike to participate and understand the benefits of Yoga in life.
